Methodology
The methods used to fulfil our environmental aims are as follows:
- Ensure that the Board of Directors receive reports on the environmental management of the company.
- Set up a procedure to assess and evaluate environmental aspects and impacts arising from the company’s processes and products. Maintain an environmental aspects register to enable the company to continually review the environmental impacts of its operations and provide the assessments for setting out quantifiable environmental objectives and targets.
- Integrate the company’s identified environmental requirement into the existing ISO:9001 internal audit process to ensure that all operations conform to policy requirements.
- Inform staff about environmental issues and their role in improving environmental practice through managers, training, information sheets and notice boards. Assigning environmental responsibilities to managers where appropriate.
- Ensure that adequate documentation, records, systems and control procedures are in place and review and evaluate environmental management to aim for continual improvement.
- Work with organisations such as the British Printing Industries Federation (BPIF) to increase our understanding of environmental issues affecting the industry, to improve our methods of environmental management and ensure we comply with environmental legislative requirements.
- Make use of capital investment to improve chemical control, minimise waste and increase recycling.
- Work with major suppliers and contractors to ensure environmental factors are fully integrated into our procurement programme.
This environmental management policy should be held under constant review and formally reviewed on at least an annual basis. It is available to all interested parties, including the public on request.
